I looked back on my 3 pregnancies and realized how blessed I had been with women around me who loved and cared for me. I had a mom, mother in law, midwife and community that was supportive of the choices I was making. After volunteering at a pregnancy aid center for a few months my eyes were opened to how many women and families were going through pregnancy unsupported or with support but no actual knowledge on pregnancy, birth or the postpartum time. I knew I wanted to find a way to learn more and share more. I attended a 9 week long birth and postpartum doula certification training and began my journey as a certified doula in 2014. I then went on to attend additional breastfeeding training and become a State of Texas Breastfeeding Educator and then my Lamaze Childbirth Educator certification. I am a born and raised Texan and my southern roots run deep. I have a family full of women who have cooked for, cared for and nurtured anyone they could and I believe those lessons imprinted into my heart how to care for families during such a beautiful and changing time. What new parents need more than opinions and judgment is love and service to help make the transition to life with a baby a little bit smoother.
(yes I count mothering as experience!!!)
